The Odisea app wins the II VTSO and XarSMART Health Innovation Award

20 December 2023
  • The award given by Viladecans The Style Outlets, which has reached its second edition, has selected the project from among thirty proposals submitted.
  • The Odisea app allows professionals to have information on the patient's condition in the event of a Heart Attack Code and to act quickly and effectively.

The Odisea app has won the second VTSO Health Innovation Award organised by Viladecans The Style Outlets and the XarSMART innovation network. On 11 December, the prize of 15,000 euros was awarded to a tool that aims to improve and optimise the care process for myocardial infarction. This project has been developed by the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI), the Dr. Josep Trueta University Hospital of Girona, the Jordi Gol University Institute for Primary Care Research (IDIAP) and the University of Girona (UdG).

The award, which has the collaboration of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) and the XarSMART network, has reached its second edition, with the aim of promoting the transfer to the market and society of high-level projects in the field of medical devices, digital health and advanced therapies.

The Odisea app aims to improve the coordination, information flow and treatment time of patients who have suffered an acute heart attack and are transferred to a tertiary hospital as an emergency. The most direct result is a considerable reduction in treatment time of 15 minutes, which is highly relevant to reduce the risk of death or disability of the patient.

The innovation project is led by Dr. Jaime Aboal, a researcher in the Cardiovascular Genetics research group and cardiologist at the Josep Trueta Hospital, and Dr. Rafael Ramos, head of the Research in Vascular Health research group at IDIBGI, also a researcher at IDIAPJGol and the University of Girona.

The application has been in use since September 2021 in the Girona Health Region between the Josep Trueta University Hospital of Girona, the reference hospital in the Girona Health Region, the emergency services of the other regional hospitals and the Medical Emergency Service (SEM).
