The ultracentrifuge is a centrifuge optimized for spinning a rotor at very high speeds, capable of generating acceleration as high as 100000 rpm. The basis of ultracentrifugation is to separate the components of a solution based on their size and density.
Major applications of ultracentrifugation: Separation of plasmid, mitochondrial, or chromosomal DNA, proteoglycans, and lipoproteins.
Our ultracentrifugation facility will have the Optima XPN100 (Beakman Coulter) equipment.
