The Clinical Trials Units at IDIBGI aim to support clinical research, particularly clinical trials designed to evaluate therapeutic strategies. These trials are conducted at Dr. Josep Trueta Hospital, Santa Caterina Hospital, the Catalan Institute of Oncology in Girona, the Blood and Tissue Bank, and the Diagnostic Imaging Institute (IDI) within the Girona region.
There are two clinical research support units: the ICO Clinical Research Unit (UIC-ICO), a specialized unit for oncological diseases, and the ICS/IAS Clinical Research Unit (UREC), which covers all other non-oncological medical specialties. Both units help optimize and promote clinical research, whether sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry or conducted within the institution itself. Their mission is to develop high-quality clinical research to improve patient treatment.
All clinical research contracts are managed through the Clinical Trials/Observational Studies Contract Administration Department.
The clinical research units provide:
Additionally, they serve as a useful and transparent tool for patients, offering them information on the studies available at the center and a point of contact for study participation.
