One of IDIBGI's missions is to act as a promoter of science and bring research closer to the public. We promote activities and projects to raise awareness about biomedical research and its importance to society. This includes initiatives aimed at children and teenagers to foster scientific culture and spirit and inspire future research talent. IDIBGI's outreach activities include, among others:
IDIBGI has promoted the creation of two educational books for children:
"Les Aventures de la Bio i la Medi" (Estrella Polar), written by Martí Gironell and illustrated by Pilarin Bayés, thanks to the Joan Oró Grant 2023 from the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI). An adventure to discover the respiratory system, aimed at children aged 3 to 8. Read more.
"I em parles d'unes coses on m'ha caigut oblit" (Llibres del Segle), written by Josep Maria Fonalleras and illustrated by Pilarin Bayés, thanks to the Joan Oró Grant 2024 from the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI). IDIBGI has created the scientific outreach game "Myth or Science", with the aim of bringing science closer to the public and uncovering fascinating discoveries and curiosities about health and science. Play here!
The game "Myth or Science" becomes a journey to explore, in an easy and entertaining way, different research lines and curious facts related to IDIBGI's biomedical research. This is a scientific outreach initiative made possible thanks to funding for the Promotion of Scientific, Technological, and Innovation Culture, granted by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
