A researcher receives an ECTRIMS grant to conduct research on Multiple Sclerosis at IDIBGI

18 October 2024
  • Researcher Oscar Ayala will work for a year at IDIBGI to evaluate the impact of the EM-Line! program on patients with multiple sclerosis

The Neurodegeneration and Neuroinflammation Research Group at the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI) will host Colombian researcher Oscar Ayala for a year, thanks to a grant awarded by the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS). This stay will allow Dr. Ayala to participate in an innovative project focused on the cognitive rehabilitation of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) through the EM-Line! program, which was created and developed specifically for MS patients by the research group.

The research project that Ayala will carry out at IDIBGI aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of cognitive rehabilitation using the EM-Line! program in improving the cognitive performance and quality of life of MS patients. The EM-Line! program can be used from home completely free of charge for patients, offering an accessible and effective solution for cognitive rehabilitation, especially for those with mobility difficulties or living in areas with limited access to specialized centers. In addition to contributing to the development of new rehabilitation tools, the project will also enhance international collaboration in the research of neuropsychology applied to multiple sclerosis.

The ECTRIMS2024 grant is funded by the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS).
