• The event has brought research closer to the residents of Girona, and has been organized by the Institute of Biomedical Research of Girona (IDIBGI) and the Teaching Units of the Hospital Dr. Josep Trueta, the Institute of Health Care and Primary Care of Girona.
• The conference was sponsored by Fundació Mutual Medica and was held in collaboration with the Girona City Council and the Girona Conference Center.

The combination of research and health care activity is the key to continuously improving health care and reference. That is why this year the first Girona Conference on Research for Residents - Mutual Médica Foundation was held. This conference was created with the aim of promoting research activity among Girona residents, who are our healthcare personnel of tomorrow.

The Girona Conference Center hosted the sessions:

• "Assistance and Research: a good combination", by Dr. Lluís Ramió, head of the research group in Neurodegeneration and Neuroinflammation of IDIBGI.
• Round table on Advanced Therapies, moderated by Dr. Albert Barberà (Valle de Hebrón Institute of Research - VHIR), with the participation of Dr. Sonia Guedan (Institute of Biomedical Research August Pi i Sunyer - IDIBAPS) and Dr. María Arnoriaga (Research Group on Nutrition, Eumetabolism and Health of IDIBGI).
• "How to do research during the MIR", by the researcher of the Cardiovascular Genetics research group Manjot Singh, winner of the first Post-Residency Aid in Gironí Talent, promoted by Dipsalut, IDIBGI and the Official College of Physicians of Girona).
• Five Oral Communications of residents. Residents Zaira Reyes and Lídia Perendreu received the award for the two best Oral Communications.
• Exhibition of more than fifty scientific posters made by the residents.
