The Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) has awarded a total of €1.64 million to IDIBGI in the 2024 funding call, supporting ten research projects at the institute. As part of the AES 2024 Health R&D&I Projects call, four initiatives led by IDIBGI researchers have been funded:

• Pere Planellas (General and Digestive Surgery) – Automation of optimal stoma marking placement in patients with colorectal pathology (PI24/02015).
• José Manuel Fernández-Real (Nutrition, Eumetabolism, and Health) – Gene expression of adipose tissue and metabolomic links with the gut-brain microbiome axis (POINSETTIA Study, PI24/00185).
• Mònica Coll (Cardiovascular Genetics) – Genetic predisposition to myocardial infarction in young individuals (PI24/00164).
• Yolanda Silva and Carme Gubern (Cerebrovascular Pathology) – Impact of Immersive Virtual Reality on acute stroke rehabilitation: clinical study and correlation with blood biomarkers and neuroplasticity-related polymorphisms (PI24/00008).

Additionally, IDIBGI has obtained two HR funding grants:

• Miguel Servet grants, awarded to Ana Quiroga (Neurodegeneration and Neuroinflammation, CP24/00018) and Anna Castells (Nutrition, Eumetabolism, and Health, CP24/00033).
• PFIS fellowships for Maria Niubó (Metabolic and Maternal-Fetal Research, FI24/00165) and Laura Gallardo (Integrative and Systems Medicine and Biology, FI24/00032).

Finally, two research groups from IDIBGI’s Neurosciences Area are part of two Health-Oriented Cooperative Research Networks (RICORS):

• Cerebrovascular Diseases Network (Cerebrovascular Pathology, RD24/0009/0006).
• Inflammatory Diseases Network (Neurodegeneration and Neuroinflammation, RD24/0007/0005).
