Last Saturday, L’Altell bookstore in Banyoles and Vitel·la bookstore in L’Escala hosted the debut presentations of the second educational storybook by the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI), titled “I em parles d’unes coses on m’ha caigut oblit” (Llibres del Segle). Written by renowned author Josep Maria Fonalleras and illustrated by Pilarín Bayés, this project was made possible thanks to the Joan Oró Grant from the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI).
The book introduces young readers to concepts related to neurodegeneration through a touching story about Claudia and Pol, two children who witness how their grandparents navigate the challenges of cognitive decline, connecting memory and emotions.
The first presentations were very well received, attracting audiences of all ages who enjoyed engaging and heartfelt discussions with the book’s creators. During the events in Banyoles and L’Escala, the authors, IDIBGI’s director Dr. Marga Nadal, and researcher Dr. Lluís Ramió-Torrentà emphasized the importance of introducing science to younger audiences to inspire future scientific careers. At the Vitel·la bookstore, Cristina Maragall, president of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, also contributed, stressing the importance of raising awareness about these diseases.
Upcoming Events: Espinelves and Girona:
The storybook will also be presented on December 6 at the Espinelves Christmas Tree Fair and on December 14 at Girona’s 22 Bookstore. These events will provide new opportunities to learn more about this unique educational project.
