The Neurodegeneration and Neuroinflammation Research Group at IDIBGI is part of the Inflammatory Diseases Network (REI), which has just secured renewed funding from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) through the RICORS RD24 call. This network, coordinated from Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid by Dr. Luis Rodríguez, aims to advance research on biomarkers and new strategies to improve the management of various inflammatory diseases.
With renewed funding of 4.9 million euros for the 2025-2027 period, REI will continue to develop projects focused on identifying diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic biomarkers, as well as promoting personalized medicine for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. The network fosters collaboration with national and international institutions to drive scientific progress.
The Neurodegeneration and Neuroinflammation Research Group at IDIBGI, linked to the Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis Unit at Trueta and Santa Caterina Hospitals, conducts research on multiple sclerosis and other neuroinflammatory diseases. The team works in a multidisciplinary and translational manner to expand knowledge of these conditions, with a particular focus on cognitive function and associated biomarkers, aiming to better address the needs of patients and their families.
