• This unique-format solidarity night is consolidated, where diners share a table with prominent figures from the world of culture, sports, business, and communication.
• The Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI) recognizes the Bosch Aymerich Foundation and the company Ascensors Serra for their commitment to research.
El Sopar dels Miralls reaches its fifth edition, firmly established as an unmissable event in the solidarity calendar. Organized by Planella Events at the emblematic Hotel Mas Solà in Santa Coloma de Farners, it has brought together prominent personalities from the world of culture, sports, communication, and business, with whom attendees have been able to share a table. The funds raised during the night will be entirely allocated to promoting the scientific activity of the Girona Biomedical Research Institute Dr. Josep Trueta (IDIBGI).
The unique format of this charity dinner allows diners to enjoy a meal in the company of their role models, mirroring themselves in distinguished personalities and engaging in inspiring conversations. This edition’s hosts included: journalist Antoni Bassas, motorcycle racer Edgar Canet, nutritionist doctor Magda Carlas, singer Santi Carulla, journalist Sílvia Cóppulo, anthropologist Manuel Delgado, Mobile World Congress CEO Francesc Fajula, journalist Helena Garcia Melero, journalist Xavier Grasset, former President of the Generalitat Artur Mas, meteorologist Tomàs Molina, deputy and entrepreneur Anna Navarro, economist Santiago Niño Becerra, actor Martí Peraferrer, journalist Cristina Puig, politician Raül Romeva, chef Carme Ruscalleda, singer Pep Sala, composer and orchestra conductor Marc Timón, and writer Vicenç Villatoro. All of them shared a table with the attendees, making this night a unique experience. This edition's patrons were Antoni Bassas and Carme Ruscalleda, regular collaborators of the solidarity event.
"We deeply appreciate everyone who, once again, has made El Sopar dels Miralls possible, a unique night that helps us continue our mission to improve people’s health and care. Research is the only way to analyze problems, find treatments, and prevent the diseases that affect us," say IDIBGI management.
Recognition of the Bosch Aymerich Foundation and Ascensors Serra
During the evening, IDIBGI presented two recognitions to two key organizations for their commitment to research. In each edition of the dinner, IDIBGI distinguishes entities, companies, or individuals who share the vision of a healthier future by supporting research. This year, the awards went to the Bosch Aymerich Foundation, recognized for its support in developing new innovative lines of biomedical research, and Ascensors Serra, a company that has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to research to improve people’s health.
"At the Bosch Aymerich Foundation, we are very grateful for this recognition granted by IDIBGI," declares Bosch Aymerich Foundation board member Àngel Dutras, who emphasizes: "We are very proud to support research projects such as those carried out at an institution as prestigious as IDIBGI and under the leadership of such a renowned professional as Dr. Jordi Frigola. Furthermore, we are particularly proud that it is an institution from Girona, the birthplace of our founder, Josep Maria Bosch Aymerich. We encourage Dr. Frigola’s team and the entire IDIBGI research team to continue their great work for the benefit of all of us and the future of our country’s healthcare."
"I believe that biomedical research is very important and essential, and companies and individuals must support it to complement public funding, which is often insufficient," states Ascensors Serra's manager, Josep Serra, who adds: "We are fortunate to have institutions like IDIBGI that, despite limitations often imposed by a lack of financial support, do great work. It is essential to recognize the work of researchers who, with their often-unnoticed efforts, achieve significant advances in the treatment and prevention of diseases, improving our quality of life with new treatments and better medical tools. The recognition is entirely theirs," he highlights.
On this fifth anniversary of El Sopar dels Miralls, tribute was also paid to the companies and organizations that have attended all five editions of the solidarity evening. These include Oliva Motor, Briolf, Friselva, Concentrol, and Dibosch, as well as the Official College of Physicians of Girona, the Official College of Pharmacists of Girona, and the Official College of Nurses of Girona.
A sum of collaborations
In addition to the support of the hosts, El Sopar dels Miralls has been sponsored by the Oliva Motor Girona dealership, Friselva, and Concentrol, and has collaborated with Hotel Mas Solà, Palahí graphic services, Scarlatta Collection, COMAS jewelry, Girona m’impulsa, RAC1, Girona FM, Ràdio Salt, Ràdio Olot, and cartoonist Joan Codina Negre. All these companies and media outlets have been key to the success of the event.
One of the iconic elements of the dinner is the apron, which is presented each year to the hosts in gratitude for their altruistic participation. This edition, the apron’s color was green, symbolizing the hope that biomedical research brings for a future with better health and fewer diseases.
