The BufaLynch, a tournament to combat Lynch Syndrome, returns
A new edition of the BufaLynch Tournament, organised by the association of the same name, now in its fifth year. The football initiative that aims to pay tribute to the captain of the Empuriabrava Castelló Football Club, Iñaki Fernández Orjales "Búfalo", who left us seven years ago due to Lynch syndrome, was once again a real success. The proceeds collected will go in search of this syndrome in the IDIBGI and IDIBELL. Specifically, in the Precision Oncology Research Group (OncoGir Pro) led by Dr. Joan Brunet, who is also head of the service of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO Girona).
The Iñaki Fernández Orjales "Búfalo" Municipal Football Field in Empuriabrava hosted the 7-a-side football tournament with 14 teams and almost 180 participants. There were also various activities such as live music, a popular rice dish and even raffles of shirts signed by elite sportsmen and women. Among them were the footballers Àlex Granell and Dani Olmo, and the Empordà MotoGP rider Maverick Viñales. The activities went on well into the night, where a grilled meat dinner concluded a dynamic day and a very special moment to remember Iñaki.
You can recover here the news of Empordà TV, where the BufaLynch Tournament is reported:
The funds raised in the various editions of the charity tournament have helped to carry out studies such as the Highly Sensitive Microsatellite Instability and Immunohistochemistry Assessment in Endometrial Aspirates as a Tool for Cancer Risk Individualization in Lynch Syndrome. First Memorial Vicencs Vilà, charity triangular tournament in Vilobí d'Onyar
The counties of Girona experienced a Saturday of sport and solidarity, with another new football tournament in Vilobí d'Onyar. The Vicens Vilà memorial started its first edition, which brought together around forty players and a total of almost 150 people. The triangular tournament pitted the teams that were declared champions of 4a. Catalana, the 2010 and the 2021 season, and a group of Vilobí C.F. players.
The initiative aims to pay tribute to the late Vicens Vilà, who was the team's delegate, vice-president of the club and a much-loved person in the town of Vilobí. All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to IDIBGI's biomedical research.
We at IDIBGI would like to express our immense gratitude for the willingness and generosity of the two organizations, who have dedicated their time and effort to collaborating in research.
