Efficacy and safety of rituximab in adult patients with idiopathic relapsing or refractory thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura: results of a Spanish multicenter study.

Efficacy and safety of rituximab in adult patients with idiopathic relapsing or refractory thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura: results of a Spanish multicenter study.

BACKGROUND: Between 30% and 60% of patients with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) relapse and mortality remains at 15-20%. Limited clinical data suggest that the administration of anti-CD20 antibody (rituximab) may be useful in preventing acute refractory and chronic relapsing TTP. DESIGN AND METHODS: We studied the clinical response to rituximab in 24 adult patients (median age 42 years, range 24-72 years) from 15 Spanish centers with an acute refractory (14 patients) or acute relapsing (10 patients) episode of idiopathic TTP.

Graft-versus-host driven graft-versus-leukemia effect of minor histocompatibility antigen HA-1 in chronic myeloid leukemia patients.

Core binding factor acute myeloid leukemia: the impact of age, leukocyte count, molecular findings, and minimal residual disease.

Core binding factor acute myeloid leukemia: the impact of age, leukocyte count, molecular findings, and minimal residual disease.

PURPOSE: Most patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and genetic rearrangements involving the core binding factor (CBF) have favorable prognosis. In contrast, a minority of them still have a high risk of leukemia recurrence. This study investigated the adverse features of CBF AML that could justify investigational therapeutic approaches. PATIENTS AND METHODS: One hundred and fifty patients (median age 42 yr, range 16-69) with CBF AML (RUNX1-RUNX1T1 n = 74; CBFB-MYH11 n = 76) were prospectively enrolled into two consecutive CETLAM protocols at 19 Spanish institutions.
