Control Engineering

Lines of Research

1. Help systems for the metabolic control of patients with Diabetes Mellitus
type 1 (DM1)

  •    Development of predictive models of glycaemia to ensure a better metabolic control.
  •    Parametric identification of models of glucose metabolism in patients with  DM1.
  •    Development of a training and simulation system for patients with DM1.
  •    Development of a system of insulin dosage-aid.

 2.    Modelization, simulation and physiological systems control.

  •    Application of advanced techniques for treating uncertainty in modeling, identifying and adequately forecasting the behaviour of  physiological systems.

  •    Control of glycaemia in critical patients. Advanced control techniques  will be applied for the regulation of glycaemia in critical patients.

   •    Studies of the systems for the regulation of glucose, metabolism,  pharmacokinetic and armacodynamic of various hormones,  considering the intra- and inter-individual variability.
