The Communications and Distributed Services research group of the University of Girona researches in management and control of high level communication networks and in adaptable hypermedia systems. The group works with intelligent-agent techniques to develop methods of management and control of networks and digital tutors

The BCDS group  has taken part in the following medical projects:

- Project with the Girona Day Hospital: a study to implement telerebailitation in the Day Hospital. This hospital offers its services to patients with multiple sclerosis or other neurodegenerative diseases with complications that need rehabilitation.

- Communications project between the Trueta Hospital and St Caterina’s Hospital, The Institute of Diagnostic Imaging (IDI), local clinics (CAPS) and hospitals in the area (2003). The aim of the project is the analysis of the present communications situation and evaluation of the needs for interconnection through a high-level computer network as much in the product centres of medical graphic material (radiographies, magnetic resonance, tomographies) as in the medical attention centres (hospitals and primary care centres).
