Research team

Permanent members

Contact: Dr Beatriz Lopez ( )

Dr Carles Pous
Dr Joan Colomer
Dr Joaquim Meléndez
Dr. Esteve de Acebo

The team is supported by temporary personnel (doctorates, research scholars, engineers and technicians).

Priority lines of research:

The Decision Support System  (SISUDEC in Catalan)) is concerned with the study of the technique of Artificial Intelligence with particular reference to the study of the following areas:

 •   Data mining:  Dealing with largevolumes of information in different forms (database, filing systems, etc.) with the aim  of  getting  readily  understandable  patterns and concepts

•   Decision support system:   These types of computerised systems allow doctors and medical staff  to  take  quick  and  effective  decisions  in relation  to  diagnosis  and  treatment. These systems make it easier to diagnose rare diseases, differentiate between the similarity of symptoms and provide information as to which is the most effective form of treatment.

•   System for the co-ordination of services:  The interconnection of systems allows the decision-making process to benefit from shared information and carry out complex tasks in co-ordination. An example of this would be the organising of medical protocols.
In this way many resources may be used more efficiently.

•   Processing and analysis of signals:  If the data are supplied by suitable equipment, special techniques are required to prepare them and allow them to use afterwards some of the previous methods.
