The aims of the Institute are as follows:

• Promote the kind of research able to improve the transference of scientific

knowledge in relation to the prevention as well as to the treatment of the

most common health problems.

• Integrate the different kinds of research and reduce the interval between

the discovery of new knowledge and its application in everyday medical

practice.

• Promote scientific networks of excellence.

• Keep a watch on the efficient use of the resources of the Institute groups.

• Encourage the collective use of resources with groups of excellence in

other institutions.

• Encourage collaboration with public and private institutions whose aims

I+D+I are to be found in the field of biomedicine and the health sciences.

• Guarantee a correct and efficient use of public and private resources and

correct research practice

• Plan aims in accordance with the possibilities of the Institute.
