The Neuroradiology group of the Institute of Diagnostic Imaging (IDI) has studied the usefulness of the new techniques in Magnetic Resonance (MR) as well as those of computerised tomography (CT) in the diagnosis of acute cerebral infarction. Together with the Neurology service of HUGJT a research project is being developed to analyse the neuroradiology markers associated with the progression of the infarction or the development of the haemorrhagic transformation. Another project being pursued is comparing the benefit of the two diagnostic strategies of cerebral infarction based on the use of MR or CT. The main achievement has been to demonstrate the greater usefulness of the angiography by MR (MRA) after the administration of contrast for the determination of the real arterial flow in acute cerebral infarction. Together with the computerised graphics group of the UdG a research project is being developed in order to find a quick and simple method of determining the volume of the infarction and the ischaemic shadow.
